The DragonHood (Click any picture to enlarge)
My "modified" Kazakh hoods are derived from the original Mongolian hoods which have been in use for untold centuries. With the addition of braces, decorative but functional top knot, and accordion tongue in the back, it is adjustable to fit each individual bird. Just determine the distance across the back of the lower mandible and cut the chin strap to fit. One rivet is already set. Punch a small hole in the other end of the strap (the third smallest hole on a standard hole punch), insert rivet and squeeze with pliers. (The chin strap is extra long for this purpose, so be careful when cutting to length.) Then trim off excess length. Extra chin strap and rivets are included. I hope you are satisfied with the fit of this hood. I know your eagle/hawk will be!
Note: When fitting the new hood it might be necessary to place your ring finger behind the back of the neck and gently guide the hood back over the cranium until it begins to go on comfortably each time. If the hood appears too tight or uncomfortable chances are the chin strap is too tight. If the hood is gapped around the cere, the chin strap is too loose and you should adjust accordingly. This is a whole new concept in hooding even though it is the oldest style of hood known to man.
